Mourning is a curious thing. Someone you’ve known and loved your entire life is suddenly gone. At first, there is just the knowledge of it—very rationale. Then, you’re busy, so it seems bearable as long as you’re not standing still. Stillness is the enemy in mourning.
When you stop moving, that’s when it hits you like a ton of bricks, and all of a sudden, you aren’t just mourning for one person, you’re mourning for what can never be again. You’re mourning for all the loved ones you’ve ever lost, for the youth you once enjoyed, for the child who outgrew your arms. All of a sudden, it’s just not okay. You are not okay. BUT GOD. His Word says we are not to grieve as those who have no hope. For we will see our loved ones again in Heaven, and we will never have to say good-bye again. I cannot wait for that day!
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. 1 Thess. 4:13-14
If we believe in Jesus as our Savior and commit our lives to Him, we will see our loved ones again. What good news that is! This is not the only good news though. God heals our broken hearts. He lifts us up and gives us peace even in the midst of our troubles. What a loving God we serve!
The righteous cry, and the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalms 34:17-18
So many have lost loved ones in the past few years. It seems as if our families are dwindling, leaving us with broken hearts. So how do we grieve with hope? How will we get to be with our loved ones again? Simple—make Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior. See your loved ones again. They are not lost, only waiting. They are waiting for us on the other side.
