Genesis 39

Getting back to Joseph who had been sold by his own brothers to the Ishmaelites—he had been taken to Egypt and bought by Potiphar who worked for Pharaoh. God helped Joseph and put him in such a place that he became a trusted advisor in the house of Potiphar. Potiphar was no dummy and saw that Joseph was a favorite of God since everything he touched seemed to be blessed. While Joseph was in charge of his home, he also prospered.

After some time, Potiphar’s wife took interest in Joseph and she propositioned him. Joseph, being a Godly man, rejected her. Since hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, she lied about Joseph and told her husband that he tried to take advantage of her. However, God was with Joseph, and though he was sent to the king’s prison, he found favor in the eyes of the warden. The warden put Joseph in charge of the other prisoners and trusted him because he also saw that the Lord was with Joseph and blessed in all he did.

Even though he was sent to prison unfairly, God still found a way to bless Joseph. Some of us are in our own type of prison, but if we look to God and trust in Him, He will find a way to bless us and keep us in peace for the duration.
