Revelation 3:1-6

The message to Sardis:

He who has the seven spirits of God (the seven churches) and the seven stars (the angels of the seven churches) says this:

I know your deeds, that though you have a living name, your church is dead, devoid of spiritual life and power. Wake up and strengthen the things that remain, for your deeds have not been completed in God’s sight. Remember what you have heard and repent. If you don’t wake up, I will come like a thief. You will not know what hour. You do have a few people in Sardis who have remained faithful and pure, and they will walk with Me clothed in white, for they are worthy. I will not erase them from the book of life. He who overcomes, I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. He who has an ear let him hear.

Jesus is warning this church to wake up. They may be well-known, but they are hollow. They’ve lost their spirit. He acknowledges though that there are a few left here who are still worthy. They will be rewarded. Revelation is full of warnings because God is getting ready. He may have been talking to churches of the day, but He is also talking to us. Are you ready?
