Pass it On (Jesus-not the virus)

I’m reading a book today that says it’s my responsibility to tell people about Jesus, so this is what I’m going to do:  I’m putting it out there and making it your responsibility to pass it on.  We are all in this together, right?

On my heart today – fear.  Do Christians need to fear?  Well, whether we need to or not, we do.  Here’s the difference:  we know that we are not immune to the world’s problems, although we also know we do receive Divine protection.  Rain falls on the sinners and the saints (but the saints get umbrellas).  We are all in a fallen world, so why bother to follow Christ? Because He is the Way:  the way to God, the way to Heaven, the way to PEACE while we are still stuck on this earth.

I have been blessed and protected my entire life because I am a child of God, although I could give you a list of bad things that have happened to me, and you would cringe and wonder just how I could still feel that way.  The difference is that while I was going through difficult times, I was held up by a force that did not come from me.  I was given a strength that I knew I did not possess on my own.  I was floating in a bubble of peace that was unexplainable.  Did I feel pain?  Of course, but there is no way I could have gotten through those difficult times without Jesus.

Many people are stuck at home right now.  Pick up a bible and see what happens. What could it hurt?  Many people are working themselves to the bone right now and risking themselves to help others – pray for them right now.  Don’t just put up the praying hands on Facebook and forget that you planned to pray about it – actually stop and pray right now.  In fact, stop reading this and pray right now. When you are reading a sad news story or watching it on TV, stop and pray right then. When we tell someone we will pray for them, we need to do it at that moment, because otherwise we might forget. If you see my praying hands on Facebook or in a text message, be assured that my prayers went up at that moment.  In fact, I am going to stop right now and pray for you, that you find peace in your hearts during this scary time. Done.

Christians are told not to worry, but unfortunately it’s our gut reaction, so here’s my challenge to you: each time worry sneaks into your mind, push it away with prayer.  You will be amazed at the peace it brings.  There is no positive power in worrying, but tremendous power in prayer. I know first hand.

“Be anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:6-7
